The Institute for Biomaterials at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering started teaching and research activities on 1st October 2009 with the appointment of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Aldo R. Boccaccini (formerly at Imperial College London, UK), as Chair for Biomaterials.
